‘The Ghost in the Machine’ series was produced following research undertaken at a former West Yorkshire Textile Mill. I became fascinated with a wages’ ledger held in the archive. ‘Peg plan’ designs, used to programme the textile looms, had been physically cut and pasted onto pages recording the names of workers and the wages they received. The records are only partially obscured by the peg plans. The two sets of information sit together as a visual narrative of life in the Mill. These archival details can be seen across the surface of my finished prints.
